Road-trip Day 14 – Exploring Arches National Park

Today we decided to flip over to Arches National Park for a hike that we were excited to do.  We read that parking can be tough so we got up early and drove straight over to Arches National Park (about a 15 minute drive) in our PJs.  Thank God that he once again worked out the logistics for us to get a parking spot!  On the way there though, Alicia ran to the back of the RV to get my wallet when I turned too quickly, knocking Alicia off balance, causing her to stub and break her toe 😞.  She is so TOUGH and, as you'll read, didn't let that stop her from the hike (or any other activity the...

Road-trip Day 13 – Canyonlands National Park Visitor Center

We picked our new campground because it is strategically located in the middle of Canyonlands National Park and Arches National Park, meaning we can stay in one place for 6 nights.  It also means we have flexibility on which park to go to each day.  We love those 2 aspects of our new campground, and we love that our campground has a playground, pool and splashpad for the kids.  Not to mention a pretty view, we're blessed again with a great campground! Like Colorado, the geography here is stunning...but so different than Colorado...and so different from the east coast.  It...

Road-trip Day 12 – Drive to Moab, UT

We said goodbye to our campground, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Colorado today.  We are really sad to be leaving, this is our kind of place with so much beauty and so much to explore.  This is definitely a place on our list to come back to again! Upon leaving we took off to Moab, UT to go explore Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park.  On the drive we passed the 2000 mile mark!  We also took in stunning views of the Colorado mountain geography.  We drove the scenic route through the mountains and were in awe.  We then drove right by...

Road-trip Day 11 – Estes Park and Pool

After a big, exhausting day yesterday we were slow moving this morning. Yesterday's excitement left us all a little thin. After finally getting ready, we decided to go in to the cute town of Estes Park for lunch at Claire's On the Park. To keep this part short, it was a tough outing as the kids were in some moods, especially Kenzie. The only real bright side was probably that our lunch was really good - Drew had amazing Elk, Bison, and Beef Meatloaf and Alicia great mahi mahi fish tacos! After naps we decided we needed to do something restful that the kids would enjoy so we headed over to...

Road-trip Day 10 – A Breathtaking Hike: Bear, Nymph, Dream, and Emerald Lakes at Rocky Mountain National Park

Day 10 was our kind of day! We read that the path around Bear Lake is a great hike for kids but you have to make sure you get there early before the parking lot is full. RVs can only park in the park 'n ride and we were told to get there no later than a little after 8am. So once the kids woke up we did only the minimum necessary to get on the road - we converted the RV from sleep mode to drive mode, gave the kids a breakfast snack for the road, and headed out in our pajamas (we knew once we got a parking spot we could stay in the RV and actually eat a...
