Today we said goodbye to Mesa Verde and headed back to Utah so we can go explore Capitol Reef National Park. We all played at the playground after breakfast before loading up and heading out. Shortly after leaving we hit the 3000 mile mark for our trip! We drove for 2 hours and stopped back in Moab for a picnic lunch and playtime at Rotary Park. It was a nice break and a nice park. They had a cool play area with musical instruments for kids to bang around on. Then we got back on the road for another 2 hours and 45 minutes to our next awesome RV park – Thousand Lakes RV Park.
Once we arrived and got checked in, the kids and I went to the playground while Alicia selflessly cleaned up, made dinner, and converted the RV in to bed mode. The park is in an amazing geographic location. It’s nestled right beside big rock mountain walls which create a beautiful backdrop for our campsite. To our surprise, and delight, the weather here is much more like Rocky Mountain National Park (mid 80s during the day, 50s and 60s at night) than the other Utah parks – Arches and Canyonlands (100 during the day, 70s/80s at night). Also, this area has a lot more greenery than the other Utah parks which is nice.
