It was another exciting morning as we ate muffins again!  The muffins (all 7) disappeared VERY quickly.  Tomorrow morning, 7 more muffins!

The first activity for the morning was to hit up the Capitol Reef National Park visitor center for the usual – passport stamps, postcards, and ornaments.

The next activity was to see the park’s Petroglyphs.  So cool!!!  From https://utah.com/capitol-reef-national-park/petroglyphs – “Rock art figures created by ancient Native Americans can be seen in several places in Capitol Reef National Park. Most are attributed to the Fremont Culture, which existed in areas of Utah from approximately AD 600 to 1300. The Fremont people were contemporaries of the Ancestral Puebloans (Anasazi) of the Four Corners area.  […]  Fremont pictographs (painted on rock surfaces) and petroglyphs (carved or pecked into the rock) depict people, animals and other shapes and forms.”  We walked on a boardwalk beside rock walls with the rock art.  Finding the rock art was a fun Where’s Waldo-like game as we searched up and down the rock to find a multitude of petroglyphs.  We also saw where two early American settlers carved names into the rock wall (in addition to what looked to be other attempted carvings, probably due to vandalism?).

We then headed over to a big grassy area by the visitor center for lunch, chase, and time to ride scooters and bicycles.  It was an absolutely beautiful day! Next we drove around the park for pictures while the kids napped before heading back to the campground for playground time and hanging-our-feet-in-the-pool time.

Day 22 is in the books!  Wow, the days fly by on this trip.  Between taking care of kids and trying to do a few park things each day time goes at warp speed!  I wish it would go a little slower so we had more time to explore each park. It’s safe to say we’ll be visiting these parks again with more time for exploration as our kids grow up.
